American auto sales are trucking again, but Mexican supplies are in reverse

U.S. automotive sales rose by 6.2% year over year in February, led by a 13.6% jump in sales of foreign-built light trucks. The industry faces significant challenges from a shortage of components, including semiconductors, which has already led to a drop in supplies of vehicles from Mexico to the U.S. In turn that may soon crimp sales. Total exports of vehicles from Mexico to the U.S. fell by 25.9% year over year in January.
