Procter & Gamble bubbles up even as U.S. soap imports wash out

Procter & Gamble reported FQ2’21 (calendar Q4’20) revenue growth of 8.3% year over year, beating analysts’ expectations of a 6.0% increase. Panjiva’s U.S. seaborne import data shows shipments linked to the firm rose by 7.7% year over year in Q4’20 including a 44.1% rise in surfactants and a 36.9% rise in cleaning cloths. Yet, imports of soaps fell by 56.6% year over year and were down by 46.1% from their August high in December despite continued pandemic-related needs.
